Born Reginald Kenneth Dwight on March 25, 1947, Sir Elton John is a piano-playing prodigy who at age 4 could play sophisticated melodies by ear.
Elton John has the innate ability to craft music to match lyrics on sight. During a recent appearance on television show Inside The Actor’s Studio, Sir Elton instantly created a melody and creatively interpreted the words from a page that an acting student in the audience randomly chose from a course text book.
One of Elton John’s personal favorites is Your Song, a love song that he wrote in 1967 to Bernie Taupin’s lyrics. The John-Taupin team would go on to become one of pop music’s most successful song writing duos. While Your Song is not among the most requested singles on the Pop Culture Madness survey, even today Sir Elton proudly features this breakthrough hit single on all his concert tours.
