A distinctive voice, a gift for phrasing poignant stories through his songs and a charming personality have made Rod Stewart one of music's most enduring successes.

Born Roderick David Stewart on January 10, 1945, Rod Stewart began his solo career in 1969.

Rod Stewart is famous for his raspy-throated storytelling. A gifted song writer who crafted the breakout hit Maggie May, the former soccer player has also had success with other artists’ songs. One example is Stewart’s 1977 version of First Cut Is The Deepest, originally released by singer-song writer Cat Stevens ten years earlier.

Not all songs from Rod Stewart’s 40-year recording career have made the most requested singles on the Pop Culture Madness survey - even highly popular songs like Hot Legs which had reached number 28 on The Billboard Hot 100 in 1978.

Nevertheless, audiences of all ages around the world are thrilled when Rod Stewart performs these songs during his worldwide concerts tours.
